October 29 – December 10

Looking for something to do as the evenings get chillier? Head to Gallery 1401 and check out the winners of the 2010 Photo Review International Photography Competition, juried by Brian Paul Clamp, Director of ClampArt Gallery in New York City. “Best of Show,” an annual collaborative effort between The Photo Review and the Media Arts department at the University of the Arts, will feature the prize-winning work of 16 photographers from all over the world.

While you’re there, stop by Gallery 1401’s sister space, the Sol Mednick Gallery, to see San Francisco-based photographer Michael Rauner’s “The Visionary State: A Journey Through California’s Spiritual Landscape.” He traveled through California documenting its more eccentric religious movements: Neopaganism, UFO cults, Spiritualism, New Age and Dianetics, among others, and his detailed color photographs create portraits of these various belief systems through their landscape and architecture.
