Field Trip: MoMa

17 Jun

Looking for a snappy day trip, or inspirational girls’ weekend? Check out the Museum of Modern Art’s special exhibit dedicated to trailblazin’ Photo Betties!

Pictures by Women: A History of Modern Photography, is running through March 21, 2011 and showcases such prestigious photographers as Diane Arbus, Florence Henri, Nan Goldin, Tina Modotti, and Cindy Sherman, among many others. There are also special gallery talks, lectures and family programs you can sign up for, as well, to enrich your experience…

Looking to save some cash? Take advantage of Target Free Friday Nights! And while you’re there, maybe check out the Henri-Cartier Bresson exhibit, The Modern Century as well.

If you’re not able to make the trek to NYC but are jonesin’ for a look-see, there’s also a special publication, Modern Women which includes images from the exhibit, a robust discourse on female photographers’ practices and contributions to the medium, and fifty illustrated essays.

(Perhaps a good birthday gift idea for a fellow Photo Betty?)
